Innovation begins with inspiration
Workplace design at L’Oréal isn’t just about visual appeal – it’s a strategic approach to inspiring innovation. And the recent transformation of their flagship Research & Innovation center in Saint-Ouen marked a shift in how the company thinks about space. Not as fixed architecture, but as a living system that adapts to its people.
To lead this transformation, L’Oréal engaged a Paris-based construction project client advisor and design lead PILOTY, known for its bold yet refined spatial strategies. Early in the project, it became clear that conventional solutions—such as fixed meeting rooms—wouldn’t provide the flexibility, privacy, or modularity the teams needed. Instead, PILOTY turned to Framery Four and Framery One as a way to structure space with intention, elegance, and agility.
“The modularity of Framery Four allowed us to adapt it into two versions to meet different needs.”

Designing for performance
L’Oréal’s brief required a workplace that could support deep technical work, global collaboration, and evolving team dynamics—all while maintaining a distinct visual identity. And all of it had to happen within a live, operational campus.
To meet these demands, the design needed to introduce private spaces without sacrificing openness or light. Framery Four offered the right combination of acoustic performance, adaptability, and visual consistency.
“We see office design as a strategic tool—not just decoration. Framery helped us express that.”
Vincent Primard
Founding Interior Designer, PILOTY
For PILOTY, the solution had to integrate seamlessly into a highly technical environment and flex as team needs evolved. Framery Four’s thoughtful design and smart features provided exactly that.

Shaping the space with Framery Four
Framery Four was treated as a central design element—integrated into the spatial logic of the office. Rather than rely on fixed walls, the design team used pods to define zones, manage flow, and support both individual and collaborative work.
Pods were strategically placed to guide movement and create intuitive divisions within the open-plan layout. Their glass walls maintained daylight and transparency, while their soundproofing provided reliable acoustic privacy.
“We didn’t place Framery pods into the design—we built the design around them. They let us sculpt the space from the inside out.”
Vincent Primard
Founding Interior Designer, PILOTY
Two configurations of Framery Four were added to support different ways of working at L’Oreal:
- A sofa-equipped layout for informal conversations and small team meetings
- A minimalist version, intentionally open for quiet focus or integration with specialized tools
This dual setup allowed the pods to serve distinct purposes—without limiting future flexibility.

Visually, the pods reinforced the overall design scheme. Their refined forms and customizable finishes made them feel cohesive within the space. “We used Framery pods to introduce architectural features—without losing openness or light,” said Primard. “They act as both functional and aesthetic anchors in the space.”
A workplace that works for everyone
From the moment they were introduced, Framery Four pods became part of the daily rhythm. Teams used them for hybrid meetings, focused work, and quick one-on-ones.
“We were won over by Framery primarily for their soundproofing – but also by the comfort, user-friendliness, and suitability for prolonged use.”
Nirupan Jeyakumar

Placed near workstations, the pods were easy to access without interrupting team dynamics. Smart features—like occupancy indicators and automated ventilation—made them intuitive and comfortable for prolonged use.
And as team needs continue to evolve, Framery Four continues to deliver. “We’re in a building where needs change constantly,” Vincent Primard added. “Framery lets us change with them—without redesigning the entire space.”
Inspiration design – Innovative results
Framery Four gave L’Oréal and PILOTY a way to rethink the workplace—not as static infrastructure, but as a flexible system that evolves with its people. By integrating pods directly into the spatial layout, the design team created a workspace that balances structure, spontaneity, elegance, and adaptability.
The pods aren’t just places to sit—they’re tools for performance, privacy, and collaboration. They reflect the spirit of innovation that defines L’Oréal’s R&D efforts.
“We are very satisfied with Framery. We would not hesitate to renew our trust in them for future projects.”

As the company grows and adapts, Framery Four remains a lasting part of that journey—helping shape how work gets done, every day.
