Sustainability
We set the industry benchmark in sustainability & responsibility
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Delivering value for people who get it done
In 2023 we introduced our new sustainability program to help guide our efforts across the three pillars of our sustainability agenda – Climate and Environment, People and Society, and Fair Business. During the year we finalized our new smart pods, made with 23% less material, and have set a target to reduce emissions per pod by 50% by 2028 compared to 2023. Learn more about our commitments, targets, and actions from our Sustainability Report.
PRODUCT SUSTAINABILITY
The world’s most sustainable pods
Framery’s new smart pods set the standard in sustainability – with durability that is measured in decades, lightweight product structures, use of truly recyclable materials, and modularity that allows the life cycle of the products to be extended indefinitely.
Certified sustainability
Award-winning sustainability
Framery was awarded with a Gold Medal sustainability rating from Ecovadis sustainability – placing us among the top 5% percent of companies assessed in the past year.
Reduced footprint
A change from plywood to steel has helped us achieve a 23% material reduction with our smart pods and a 16% reduction in related carbon footprint from manufacturing on average.
Recycled and recyclable
Made with more recycled materials and fewer overall resources – with 90–100% recyclability at the end of the pod’s extended lifecycle.
Sustainability in action
We participate in the UN Global Compact as well as the Science Based Targets initiative and have set emission-reduction targets aligned with the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C compared to pre-industrial levels.
CLIMATE AND ENVIRONMENT
Climate and environment
Our climate and environmental policies focus on mitigating climate change, resource scarcity, and biodiversity loss. We believe transitioning to circularity is crucial for the well-being of our profits, people, and planet. To future-proof our business, we are shifting from linear to circular models that respect planetary boundaries. Framery’s sustainability program aims to reduce our climate impact by decarbonizing our offerings, using fewer resources, and increasing the use of fossil-free materials and renewable energy.
Decarbonizing our offering
We strive to reduce our GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions by half. This means reducing our emissions per pod by more than 50% by 2028 compared to 2023. It also means a 50% reduction in own operation’s GHG emissions (scope 1 and scope 2) by 2030 compared to the 2018 base year.
Transitioning to circularity
Framery Subscribed offers customers the opportunity to lease Framery pods flexibly and affordably. When they no longer need their pods, our local installation partner picks them up, refurbishes and repairs them, and then delivers them to a new customer for a new life cycle. As a result, our pods can potentially enjoy multiple lifetimes of service.
Environmental efficiency
The material efficiency rate describes the volume of waste in relation to the input materials. In 2023, our material efficiency reached 95.8%. More than half of the waste generated is wood that is directed to incineration with energy recovery. We don’t use any water in our manufacturing processes.
