A workplace strategy built for change
JLL is a global leader in workplace design—championing spaces that are efficient, adaptable, and human-centered. From sustainability and data to employee experience, every element is carefully considered to support long-term business and people goals.
This vision came to life in JLL’s Atlanta office, where the company reimagined the space to reflect the evolving needs of hybrid work—resulting in a smart, sustainable workplace that supports focused work, flexibility, and well-being, without major construction or added emissions.
Stuart Bern, Managing Director, Americas at JLL Technologies Advisory Services, shared how Framery helped JLL meet space, noise, and sustainability challenges head-on. The Atlanta office has since become a model for how workspaces can evolve with sustainability and employee experience at the core—and a working template for the future of workplace design.
Designing with purpose and parameters
With the evolution of hybrid work, enclosed meeting areas were in high demand—but in short supply. “Our employees are our number one asset. As we continue to have more of our employees return to office, less rooms have become available,” says Bern. JLL needed to adapt its spaces without sacrificing its sustainability commitments.
At the same time, JLL’s open-plan layout was creating noise levels that made deep focus difficult. Building new rooms wasn’t a viable option either—as the company’s pledge to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 meant that traditional construction was off the table.
“We were solving for two main challenges: space constraint and noise.”

JLL needed solutions that could be deployed quickly, flexibly, and without renovation. Framery’s smart pods answered all three needs—offering high-performing, acoustically controlled workspaces that align with JLL’s circular economy strategy and sustainability goals.

A flexible and focused workplace
To deliver on its vision of a modern, sustainable workplace, JLL turned to Framery smart pods to solve for privacy, noise, and flexibility—without compromise. Framery One offers quiet, individual space for heads-down tasks and video calls. And Framery Four enables small group collaboration and hybrid meetings—creating a balanced mix of focus and adaptability.
“Our goal is to provide options for how our employees choose how they want to work.”
The fleet of Framery smart pods gives employees a consistent and high-performing experience across a variety of tasks—without requiring structural changes or added square footage. By reclaiming underutilized areas and converting them into enclosed, soundproof spaces, JLL expanded its private workspace in a modular, scalable way.

Sustainable and supportive design
Framery smart pods helped JLL tackle the most pressing challenges of their redesign—reducing noise, supporting sustainability, and empowering employees. And with zero need for construction and full redeployability, they became a foundational element of a more adaptable, human-centered office design.
Reducing noise
In open-plan offices, noise is one of the biggest barriers to productivity. Framery pods provided quiet zones where employees could focus, make calls, or collaborate without interruption.
“Our Framery pods have made the open-plan space noticeably quieter, which has really helped improve focus and overall productivity.”
The acoustic insulation and ergonomic features of the pods created a better day-to-day experience—especially for those working in high-traffic areas.
Supporting sustainability
Framery pods offered an immediate, low-impact solution for JLL’s office redesign. Their modular design and high-quality construction aligned with JLL’s long-term sustainability goals—delivering flexible, enclosed workspaces without the need for permanent infrastructure or new buildouts.
“The reusability of Framery’s smart pods helps us prioritize circular-economy and low-carbon practices.”
Framery pods can be easily moved, reused, and reconfigured – supporting both short-term adaptability and long-term emissions targets. “We maximize the reuse and redeployment of furniture solutions to help reduce lifecycle impact,” says Bern. By minimizing the need for new materials and maximizing long-term use, the pods reinforced JLL’s mission to design responsibly.
Empowering employees
The impact on employees was immediate. Framery pods provided quiet, private space for video calls, one-on-ones, and focused work—making a noticeable difference in open-plan areas and improving satisfaction in the workplace.
“The soundproofing and advanced technology in Framery smart pods has allowed for an overall better work experience.”
The pods quickly became a favorite workplace resource—not only solving practical challenges but giving employees greater comfort, control, and satisfaction in their day-to-day routines.

A model for the future of workplace design
JLL’s Atlanta office has become a live example of how smart, sustainable design can shape the future of work. The redesigned space blends open collaboration zones with enclosed, soundproof pods—supporting a range of workstyles while prioritizing employee well-being.
“Being able to gain early access to innovation and test adoption has allowed us to ensure that we are providing best-of-class solutions back to our customers.”
Framery smart pods played a key role in bringing this vision to life. As JLL continues to evolve its offices globally, this model provides a scalable, data-informed foundation for what tomorrow’s workplace can be.
By integrating adaptable tools like Framery, JLL is building offices that are not only functional today—but future-ready by design.
